Naseem Hedayatipoor, Intern Counsellor

Naseem is completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology internship under the supervision of Bailey Puchyr-Chartier, Registered Psychologist. After working in front-line with children, families and vulnerable populations, she is excited to embark on a new journey of collaboration to support a safe space for vulnerability and growth with clients in counselling.

Naseem has experience working with high risk youth, marginalized populations and years of experience working with children who have experience various degrees of trauma and adults who struggle with addictions, complex trauma and co-morbid mental health challenges. She also has experience working with clients within various cultural contexts as well as collaborating with members from our neighboring Indigenous communities, with most of her work focusing on trauma and child protection.

Naseem is interested in working with adults, adolescents and children through challenges including transitional life periods, trauma, abuse, attachment issues, grief and loss and other mental health challenges from a place of compassion, empathy and acceptance. She aims to understand individuals within their social contexts by remaining attentive to influences of sociocultural factors.

Naseem has fostered an understanding of the multifaceted implications of interpersonal relationships and recognizes that a therapeutic relationship is established through respect, authenticity and collaboration. Naseem’s approach to therapy focuses on empowerment by highlighting each person’s unique skills and strengths to make positive changes in their lives and face challenges. Naseem primarily works from a strength-based and solution focused perspective to support her clients in identifying possibilities for addressing their challenges while drawing from various interventions depending on the clients’ unique needs. She also trained in EMDR Therapy.

Naseem will be offering individual counselling services on a sliding fee scale, both in person and online.
